I came across a Facebook video that, I thought, does a powerful job of exposing
the nonsense theories atheists claim are scientific. As the video explains, the
atheist theory of existence goes something like this:
1. Human beings are improved versions (they would say “evolved” versions)
of pond scum.
2. Pond scum was created by water on rocks over four billion years ago.
3. That water and rock, and all matter in the universe, came from an
extremely tiny dot about 13.8 billion years ago.
4. That dot, and time and space itself, came from absolutely nothing!
Let’s break this nonsense down, in reverse order:
4. The creation of matter/energy from nothing violates the First Law of
Thermodynamics (conservation of matter/energy). There is no scientific basis for
the creation of time and space. Common sense says you can’t get something from
absolute nothing. Finally, the fine-tuning of the constants of Physics makes it clear
our universe was designed for life.
3. The “deep time” theory, despite its prevalence, is contradicted by over one
hundred scientific facts. I like the new findings from the James Webb Space
Telescope, revealing that the galaxies furthest away, that supposedly were
created shortly after the deep time “big bang,” and under that theory should be
shapeless blobs, are as fully formed as our own galaxy. Look also at the Grand
Canyon, those rocks layers were not subject to millions of years of erosion.
2. This one is particularly absurd. Life runs on complex digital code – DNA – and
you can’t get code by chance, much less at the same time the fantastic machines
necessary to copy it and read it. The resources of a trillion trillion universes are
laughingly insufficient to create life by chance.
1. The more we learn about life, the more we learn about how complex and
fantastically designed it is. All computer simulations confirm that when you
introduce random errors – mutations – into complex code the code degrades. The
arrow of evolution is down, not up. This also proves our human species was
created only thousands of years ago, because the mutations are adding up. If the
human species was a million years old we would all be dead.
Complex books have been written detailing each of these points, and, of course,
there is much more. But sometimes less is more. I call these the “big four.” I hope
they will give you comfort, and I hope you will share them with others. Friends
don’t let friends stay atheists, and miss the joy and beauty of a life with purpose.
Thanks for reading,
Doug Ell
